Two decades of Original-War.NET!

Today is 17 February 2026 – the day Original-War.net celebrates its twentieth anniversary. It’s a special moment, because we’re changing for you. For a long time, we’ve been saving our large database so it can help not only modders and game statisticians, but also regular players. We want to make sure it doesn’t share the fate of many sites that disappeared forever.

But this is only the beginning. Everything we’ve done so far was just a first step in fully optimising the site. During this process we decided to become completely independent from PHP and databases, so we could build an archive that won’t be affected by future technological changes and can last for decades. This meant removing all active scripts, so over the past two years we’ve mainly focused on making sure the content stays accessible – our top priority – while turning off dynamic features that were used less and less or didn’t work well with our bot‑blocking systems. In the same way, we’re also reducing the cost of maintaining our infrastructure.

During this time, we’ve also closed some accounts on external platforms, focusing instead on our own projects and long‑term stability.

As every year, we’re sharing the latest statistics with you. To mark the occasion, we’ve updated the article “The History of Original-War.NET” (Polish version only), which now includes the year 2025 – a year that closes an important chapter in our story. We hope we still have another 20 years of working together. That’s our wish for all of us.
